Georgie Auld va ser una saxofonista tenor, clarinetista i director d'orquestra de jazz.

Auld va néixer com a John Altwerger a Toronto, Canadà, i es va traslladar a Brooklyn, Nova York, el 1929. Abans que la família marxés del Canadà, els pares d'Auld li van comprar un saxòfon alt, que va aprendre a tocar sol. Més tard va canviar al saxòfon tenor després d'escoltar una gravació de Coleman Hawkins.

Auld va treballar amb Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Erroll Garner, Dizzy Gillespie, Al Porcino, Billy Eckstine, Tiny Kahn i Frank Rosolino. Principalment saxofonista de swing, va ser membre de grans bandes i va dirigir-les, com ara Georgie Auld and His Orchestra i Georgie Auld and His Hollywood All Stars. Va tocar rock and roll mentre treballava per a Alan Freed el 1959.

El 1949, Auld va interpretar Carl a The Rat Race al teatre Ethel Barrymore de Broadway. El 1952, va tenir un petit paper a la pel·lícula The Marrying Kind. El 1977 va interpretar un líder d'una banda a la pel·lícula New York, New York, protagonitzada per Liza Minnelli i Robert De Niro, i també va actuar com a assessor tècnic per a la pel·lícula.

Auld va morir el 8 de gener de 1990 a Palm Springs, Califòrnia, als 70 anys.
